Gas Permeability Tester
Permeability of gases, vapors, and liquids is important for many industrial applications. Permeametry involves measurement of flow rate of a fluid across a sample and the pressure drop across it in order to compute permeability using Darcy’s law. Gas flow rates and pressure drops are also used to compute many other useful characteristics of porous media.

Principle

Gas permeability is defined by Darcy’s law. According to this law, flow of fluids through porous media is proportional to the pressure gradient causing flow. The proportionality constant normally decreases with increase in viscosity of the fluid. Therefore, incorporating viscosity in the equation Darcy’s law becomes:
